THE INTERACTION BETWEEN TRANSPORTATION INVESTMENTS AND DEVELOPMENT OF CITIES

The interaction between transportation investments and development of cities and surrounding rural districts was studied by means of questionnaires sent to the local authorities of each area. The statistical data concerning economic, industrial and demographical development was also made available. The study consisted of 19 Finnish cities and the 62 surrounding rural districts. The transportation sector projects included in this study consist of main road network projects as well as railway and airport projects.
