Consensus based Distributed Angle Droop Control for Islands Resynchronization

2020
The islanded operation of microgrids applies following major faults on the distribution grid or as scheduled, consequently improve the reliability, resilience and flexibility of the whole system. In order to ensure a synchronized reconnection of the islands to the external grid smoothly after faults, it is critical to keep the voltage magnitude, phase angle and frequency within constraints at the both ends of the grid switch before closing at the point of common coupling (PCC), in particular for the microgrids with various types of distributed energy resources. Therefore, in this paper a consensus based distributed consistency active power phase angle droop control method utilizing phasor measurement units (PMUs) is proposed to achieve smooth resynchronization. The feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed control strategy has been demonstrated and verified on a case study network.
