Low-density carbon-carbon composite materials for high-temperature thermal insulation

1993
Low-density carbon-carbon composite materials made of short fibres and a powdered polymer binder which exhibit significant anisotropy of the physicomechanical and thermophysical properties due to the fabrication technology were developed. The physicomechanical and thermophysical properties of low-density CCCM are a function of the type of carbon filler used to a significant degree, and this affects the area of application of the composites in the final analysis. The thermophysical properties of domestic CCCM are on the level of the foreign analogs. The basic area of application of low-density CCCM is in high-temperature thermal insulation.
