The Use of Spectroscopy for Non-destructive Determination of Authenticity of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting

2018
Non-contact hyperspectral measuring studies confirm that the destructive ratio of the identified object decreases to ~0%, as well as leading to an improved identification efficiency without affecting the identification accuracy. Therefore, we have explored the material-composition interpretation method of the spectrum curve from hyperspectral data for Chinese calligraphy and painting. The preliminary experiment report a difference between authentic and imitation work in the spectrum curves (for wavelengths from 1000 to 2500 nm) for rice papers and inks. This result is essential for realizing non-destructive high-accuracy identification for Chinese calligraphy and painting
