Effect of windowing functions on clipping and filtering based PAPR reduction techniques in OFDM Systems

2015
In recent years, orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is considered as one of the key technologies for high data wireless communication systems. One of the main disadvantages of an OFDM system is its high peak to average power ratio (PAPR), which causes distortion in signal at the nonlinear high power amplifier (HPA) of OFDM transmitter [1-10]. Among the different techniques, clipping and filtering based PAPR reduction techniques are widely used because of low computational complexity and simplicity in implementation without receiver side cooperation[‐‐]. In this paper, we have analyzed the effect of different windowing functions on clipping and filtering based PAPR reduction techniques in OFDM Systems. The results show that there is significant amount of reduction of out of band radiation in case of Hann and blackmann window with justified values of BER and CCDF Vs. PAPR o .
