Synthesis, crystal structure and fluorescent properties of indolo[3,2-b]carbazole-based metal–organic coordination polymers

2018
Abstract A new 5,11-dihydroindolo[3,2- b ]carbazole-based bidentate ligand bearing two carboxylic groups, (3,3′-(indolo[3,2- b ]carbazole-5,11-diyl)dipropionic acid, H 2 icdc), has been synthesized in two steps and then used for the construction of two metal–organic coordination polymers, namely [Zn 3 (dmf) 2 (icdc) 3 ]·4DMF ( 1 ) and [Zn 2 (dabco)(icdc) 2 ]·4NMP·4H 2 O ( 2 ) (dabco = 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane, DMF = N,N-dimethylformamide, NMP = N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone). Compound 1 has a layered structure, while compound 2 has a 3D framework structure. Both compounds display linker-based blue fluorescence.
