TÉCNICAS ALTERNATIVAS PARA LA CONVERSIÓN DE IMÁGENES A COLOR A ESCALA DE GRISES EN EL TRATAMIENTO DIGITAL DE IMÁGENES Color images Conversion Alternatives Techniques to grayscale in Digital Image Processing

2011
In artificial vision systems, there is a recurring need for converting a color image to the corresponding gray scale image for later binarization. This process, which is part of processing the image in order to improve its properties and ease the extraction of certain characteristics, is almost always performed using a single algorithm from the RGB color space to the YUV color space. This article presents some of the alternatives in the conversion to gray scales of RGB color images.
