SUMMARY In this study, it is aimed to examine the relationship between problem solving skills of 7 th and 8 th grade secondary school students who participate in physical education classes and sportive activities (athletics, football, basketball, volleyball, etc.) and physical education and sport in terms of various variables and to reveal the effect of sport on problem solving skills of the students. 283 students in total, 161 of whom are boys and 122 of whom are girls, who study in Osmangazi Secondary School located in Altindag district of Ankara in 2014- 2015 school year constitute the subject group. In the data collection process, Problem Solving Inventory which was developed by Heppner and Petersen (1982) and adapted to Turkish by Şahin, Şahin and Heppner (1993), and personal information form which was prepared by the researchers were used. In order to test the difference between the levels of problem solving skills of the students participating in the study in terms of socio- demographic characteristics, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used while Tukey HSD and Independent Sample T Test were used in order to examine group differences. As a result, while a significant difference between total points of problem solving skills of secondary school students and the variables such as age and class levels has not been found, a significant difference between gender, and education levels of parents has been found.
