The invention discloses a redundant data packet transmission controlling method. The invention comprises that data packets are transmitted among media gateways; whether a redundant data packet is transmitted among the media gateways or not is controlled during a data packet transmission process according to a data packet loss situation, which is detected by the media gateways. The invention also discloses a redundant data packet transmission controlling media gateway and a redundant data packet transmission controlling system. The implementing case of the invention can bring the redundant data packet into full play, control whether or not the redundant data packet is transmitted in a real time according to the packet loss situation in a network, guarantee the service quality through transmitting the redundant data packet when the packet loss is detected, and effectively save network bandwidth resource through transmitting a common data packet including no redundant data, when no packet loss is detected.
