Generally, nanomaterials are defined as a substance where at least one dimension is less than 100 nm (1 nm = 10–6 mm = 10–9 m) thus in a scale, comparable to that of atoms and molecules. However, there are significant differences among researchers on the more precise definition of a nanomaterial.
