Corkwood in the Eocene flora of the southeastern United States

Eight species in 7 genera, none heretofore identified as Leitneria (corkwood), are synonymized as Leitneria eocenica (Berry) Brown, n. comb., the first recognition of that genus in the Eocene flora of the southeastern United States. This example points the need for a thorough restudy of the entire flora.
