The invention provides a thulium-doped optical fiber laser pump method utilizing erbium-doped random optical fiber laser. The method utilizes the erbium-doped optical fiber laser for generating a high power output of 1530 to 1590 manometers, then injects the output into a random optical fiber laser in order to obtain a high power random optical fiber laser output of 1630 to 1700 nanometers, and finally a thulium-doped optical fiber laser/amplifier is pumped, so as to obtain a high power thulium-doped optical fiber laser output. The random optical fiber laser is simple in structure, stable in system, and ensures a higher converting efficiency thereof; the absorptivity and pumping efficiency can be effectively increased by using the random optical fiber laser output of 1630 to 1700 nanometers for co-band pumping the thulium-doped optical fiber laser/amplifier, thereby reducing the pressure of heat management, and finally being able to obtain a thulium-doped optical fiber laser which is high in power, high in efficiency, and convenient in heat management.
