The relationship between ApoE polymorphism and pre-eclampsia

2009
Objective To evaluate the relationship between ApoE polymorphism and the blood lipid level, and the relationship between ApoE polymorphism and pre-eclampsia.Methods ApoE polymorphism was genotyped by the polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP) method in 96 pre-eclampsia cases and 98 healthy pregnant controls from January to December in 2007.The serum lipid level of both groups was also determined. Results The serum TG,TC and LDL-C in PE patients were significantly higher than in healthy pregnant women(P0.05).The serum HDL-C was lower in PE patients than in healthy pregnant women(P0.05).The ApoE allele frequency wase2(5.7%),e3(85.8%),e4(8.5%) respectively in our study. The levels of serum lipid were different significantly in different genotypes of ApoE(P0.01).The levels of TC,TG and LDL-C decreased in the order of E3/ 4 + E4/4E3/3E2/2 + E2/3,and the level of HDL-C was just the reverse(P0.01).The frequency ofe3 was lower in the cases than in the controls(79.7%vs 91.8%,P0.01),and the frequency ofe4 was higher in the cases than in the controls(P0.01).Conclusion ApoEe4 allele may be an genetic risk factor of pre-eclampsia,and there is a significant association between ApoEe4 allele and hyperlipemia.
