Global SESAR1/NextGEN Internet based ATN infrastructure

2016
Current aircraft architectures and design certifications assume the aircraft can remain unchanged for decades which means new, more reliable, and secure technology cannot be readily added to the aircraft. And the Internet changes! . Current aircraft regulations do not allow for even basic changes to counter new cyber threats without lengthy re-certification. (NextGen/SESAR? Really?) They must be able to accept the insertion of new “Cyber Shield” capabilities overnight! (I didn't say “new software modules”!) . Commercial aviation needs “connectivity standards” that allow aircraft global connectivity with NSPs, airports, and communication service providers around the globe to minimize airline operational costs.
