Application of low shrinkage type self-compacting concrete to an advanced large water purification plant

1999
In order to ensure sufficient durability without a delay in the construction period while paying attention to safety and environment, Self-Compacting Concrete (SCC) was applied to the construction of an advanced water purification plant having large basins. SCC totaling 200,000 m 3 was made using low-heat portland cement to suppress heat generation and control cracking of massive members. An expansive admixture was also used for members requiring particularly high watertightness to minimize shrinkage after hardening. This paper summarizes the materials and proportions of low-shrinkage type SCC, as well as the results of production control at ready-mixed concrete plants and quality control during construction.
