Effect of nursing intervention on erectile dysfunction and the quality of sex life afterthe operation of large glands BPH by TURP and SPP

Objective To compare the impact of nursing intervention on erectile dysfunction and the quality of sex life after the operation of large glands BPH by TURP and SPP.Methods Nursing intervention were done for 76 patients and their spouses for a year.The erectile function (penile erection hardness, IIEF-5) and the quality of sex life (SLQQ) were assessed separately at 3 months, 6 months and 9 months after intervention.Results (1) After the intervention, the IIEF-5 and the SLQQ scores of TURP group and SPP group were significantly higher (P ＜ 0.05) .And after the intervention, the IIEF-5 and the SLQQ score of TURP group were significantly decreased (P ＜ 0.05) than those of SPP group; (2) The IIEF-5 score of both groups were increased in varying degrees after the intervention.While the IIEF-5 scores of SPP group 3 months, 6 months, 9 months after the intervention were statistically significant differences (P ＜ 0.01) ; (3) The SLQQ scores of both groups were increased after intervention, There were statistical differences (P ＜ 0.05) .and the statistical differences of SPP group was more obvious.Conclusions Nursing intervention can improve the treatment effect of erectile dysfunction and quality of sex life with TURP and SIP and improve the patient's sex life satisfaction degree.There are remarkable effect on the SPP Key words: Nursing intervention;  TURP;  SPP;  Erectile dysfunction;  Quality of sex life
