It would seem the healthier the patient, the less at risk they are of wounds moving from contamination and colonisation to infection. Clinicians have a pivotal role in preventing and managing wound infection and its sequelae, but this necessitates constant vigilance when observing the wound and the patient for early warning signs and symptoms.
