Seromuscular fibrosis of subcutaneous colonic transplant: an unusual complication of oesophagocoloplasty

1991
Corrosive gastric and oesophageal injury is reported in a two-year-old child. Pyloric stenosis was corrected by resection and gastroduodenal anastomosis; and oesophageal stricture by a subcutaneous colonic substitution. The latter procedure was followed by an unusual complication of a band-like seromuscular fibrosis with obstruction of the colonic segment. This was treated by seromyotomy with satisfactory results. Such a complication has not been reported earlier. The probable cause of such a sequela is considered.
