Biological Cycles and Migrations of Acipenser sturio
2011
Current knowledge of the biological cycle and migration behaviour is detailed in this chapter. Most of the data come from the Gironde population, and a diagram of the biological cycle is proposed. Spawning occurs in freshwater, and juveniles progressively migrate to the estuary and then to the sea to grow. Early life history in rivers, juvenile life in the estuary and at sea and finally adult life at sea and reproductive migration are described from the literature.
