Observación métrica de la producción científica de la Revista Médica Electrónica a través de SciELO

Introduction: bibliometric indicators are a tool for the application of Bibliometry, and they are used for appraising the scientific production in different fields of the knowledge. Objective : to characterize the scientific production of Revista Medica Electronica (Electronic Medical Journal in English) through SciELO statistics and indicators that allows quantifying its use and its impact factor between 2014 and 2016. Material and methods : a retrospective, descriptive study was carried out on the scientific production of Revista Medica Electronica . The following theoretical methods were used: the historical-logical one, the analytical-synthetic one, the inductive-deductive one, besides the documental analysis as empiric method. The obtained results are shown in contingency tables through absolute numbers and percentages. Results: the statistics of production, visibility, impact and consultation index were characterized. The biggest quantity of published articles was found in 2014, when the consulting access to the published articles was predominant. The impact factors for two and three years were significant when comparing this journal to other biomedical journals. Those fascicles with more than a hundred accesses by the scientific community were shown. Conclusions: there it was a homogeneous distribution of fascicles in the studied years, leading to an average of acceptable articles when comparing it to national and international standards. Cuba prevailed as the country with a higher number of quotations remitting to Revista Medica Electronica ; the impact factor for two and three years exceeded the researchers’ expectations. The most consulted and the most quoted articles by Matanzasan authors were the ones published in the different numbers that appeared in 2014.
