The method comprises the following steps of: detecting the humidity of the mobile terminal by virtue of a humidity sensor; and when the humidity detected by the humidity sensor reaches a threshold, shutting the mobile terminal. According to the method and the device, when the mobile terminal is in a high-humidity environmental condition, the nearby humidity environment of the mobile terminal is judged, and under the condition that the nearby humidity environment of the mobile terminal reaches the threshold, the mobile terminal is shut, so that electronic components of the mobile terminal are in a power-off state, and the safety of the electronic components of the mobile terminal under the high-humidity environment is protected to the greatest extent.
