CT-guided Percutaneous Ethanol Injection in the Treatment of Renal Cyst
2002
Objective To evaluate CT guided ethanol injection (CT PEI) in the clinical treatment of renal cyst. Materials and Methods CT PEI was used to treat 24 renal cysts in 16 patients. The lesions included simple renal cyst (n=10), para pyelic cyst (n=2) and polycystic kidney (n=4). After CT PEI, 18 cysts were followed up for 3~12 months. The complications and therapeutic effect were observed. Results All the procedures were successfully completed. No severe complications occurred. During the follow up period, the effective grade 0, Ⅰ, Ⅱ and Ⅲ was 5.6% (n=1), 11.1% (n=2), 16.7% (n=3) and 66.7% (n=12), respectively. A clinical remission rate of 94.4% (17/18) was obtained, and the clinical symptoms disappeared in 81.8% of cases (9/11).Conclusion CT-PEI is a safe and effective therapeutic procedure for the treatment of renal cysts.
