The application of mass spectrometry for identification of derivatives of 2-substituted glyco-[1′,2′:4,5]-2-oxazolines

1969
Abstract Based on the analysis of the mass spectra of a series of derivatives of 2-methyl- and 2-phenyl-glyco[1′,2′:4,5]-2-oxazolines, it has been shown that furanose and pyranose derivatives can be distinguished. The presence of an abundance of peaks due to the substituted oxazoline ring permits the ready identification of this class of monosaccharide derivative. Stereochemical differences in the compounds investigated have a small effect on the mass spectra.
