Glomerular damage in patients with psoriasis.

2011
The combination of immune related diseases is well known. The renal damage is not frequent in patients with psoriasis, but cases of IgA, membranous, membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis and FSGS are described. We present five cases of this association: two mesangioproliferative GN with and without IgA deposition, one membranous GN, one FSGS and one lupus nephropathy. All of them were treated with immunomodulatory therapy with good results in 4 patients concerning renal injury and amelioration of skin damages in all. Because of restricted number of cases and lack of specific histological manifestations, the existence of psoriatic nephropathy remains uncertain. In view of the large heterogeneity in our material and in the literature, we are more likely to assume that this is a more frequently association of immune diseases with link points in their immune pathogenesis.
