The relationship of the expression of p53, ras gene and vascular endothelial growth factor in hepatocellular carcinoma

Objective\ To investigate the relationship of the expreesions of p53, ras and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in hepatocellular carcinoma. Methods\ The expressions of p53, ras and VEGF was detected by using immunohistochemistry assay. Results\ The expression rate of VEGF, p53 and ras was 64.4%(29/45), 48.9%(22/45), 53.3%(24/45) respectively. Comparative study of the series sections revealed that in the areas with higher VEGF expression there were more intensive p53 and ras expression. But χ 2 test showed that VEGF expression was correlated only with p53 ( χ 2=5.65, P 0.05) but not Ras( χ 2=0.90, P 0.05). Conclusion\ VEGF expression was correlated significantly with the expression of p53, but not with ras.\;
