AB 100. Radiology in digital era

Department of Radiology is a point where various diagnostic procedures are performed within 24 hours of working time. The Department consists of three main divisions: conventional, ultrasound and CT examinations are performed by six radiologist and 15 technicians in 6 cabinets. Since 2007, when a “digital era” started, digital X-rays replaced classic films, allowing easy widespread and postprocessing of radiograms. Radiography system GE DEFINIUM 8000, one of the most advanced radiographic systems with flat panel detector that time, is still in use. Radiologists in the computed tomography division conduct CT studies of the head, neck, chest, abdomen and pelvis, performing MSCT pulmoangiography, MSCT coronarography and CT-guided fine needle biopsy studies. Computerized tomography guided fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) of lung lesions has rapidly emerged as a less-invasive, cheap, rapid and fairly accurate diagnostic aid in lung lesions. We perform approximately 250 FNAC per year. Over the last five years, the CT section has extensively upgraded its equipment and facilities. The division's equipment consists of one state-of-the-art General Electric helical CT scanner and 64 multidetector GE CT system.
