Pharmacological Effect of Alkaline Soluble Polysaccharide Extract of Candida Albicans on the Leukocytopoiesis- promoting in the Leukopenia Mice

2006
Objective To elucidate the pharmacological effect of the alkaline soluble polysaccharide extract of Candida Albicans on the leukocytopoiesis-promoting in the leukopenia mice. Methods Mature male ICR mice were divided into the following five groups: untreated control group, negative control group, positive control group A (G-CSF group), positive control group B (CAP group) and alkaline soluble polysaccharide of Candida Albicans group. Mice of the four groups except the untreated control group were administered cyclophosphamide 100mg/(kg·d)for three days) intraperitoneal to develop leucopenia. In the positive control group A (G-CSF group), every mouse was administered G-CSF 30μg/(kg·d)for six days) intravenously; in the positive control group B (CAP group), every mouse was administered CAP 1mg/(kg·d)for six days) intravenously; in the alkaline soluble polysaccharide of Candida Albicans group, every mouse was administered alkaline soluble polysaccharide of Candida Albicans 2mg/(kg·d)for six days) intravenously. The peripheral leukocytes of all mice were counted 1, 3, 5, 7 days after being treated with CTX. Results The alkaline polysaccharide of Candida Albicans is a potent biological response modifier which has a better effect than G-CSF and CAP. It has prosperous future for clinical application.
