Design and Synthesis of Parallel Connected Chained Function Filter

2019
This paper presents a design and synthesis of parallel connected topology using chained function filtering characteristics. The parallel connected topology has its advantages in terms of its ease of tuning characteristic but suffers from having high sensitivity to fabrication tolerant. The Chained function which is based on the concept of bridging between the filter characteristics of Butterworth and Chebyshev filters can be used to overcome this limitation because of its low manufacture tolerances. In contrast to the conventional Chebyshev filter family, the chained functions allow the trade-off between filter selectivity and sensitivity which then can be adjusted to fit in with different occasions. It can be used to preserve the design flexibility characteristic of parallel connected topology, and still be able to produce a less sensitive filter in manufacture tolerances. In this paper, design of parallel connected topology using Chained function is proposed. The theory and the matrix representation together with the design and simulation of the parallel connected filter are included. The result is in very good agreement.
