Potential Application of Antenna-in-Package in LEO Satellite

As the key component of millimeter wave (mm-wave) wireless communication systems, antenna-in-package (AiP) technology meets the urgent needs of the low earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellation for high integration, low cost and efficient antenna solutions. This paper reviews the key technologies and development trend of AiP from the perspectives of radiators, packages and materials. This paper also discusses the practical difficulties of AiP technology in satellite communication. Finally, current issues for applications of AiP in LEO satellite constellations are presented.
