Correlation between FLIPI score and the uptake of FDG PET in patients with low grade follicular lymphoma

2009
1677 Objectives Follicular lymphomas(FL) are divided into low and high grades by the histopathology and other clinical information. There are some of patients with low grade FL behaves aggressively. The most widely used prognostic index is the follicular lymphoma international prognostic index(FLIPI). The purpose of this study is to correlate the uptake of FDG PET(PET) with the score of FLIPI. Methods From October, 2003 to Aril, 2008, 17 patients with grade 1 or 2 FL performed PET for staging. Two out of these 17 patients had no lesion detected by PET or other images, and they are excluded from this study. The values of SUVmax were obtained from the most high uptake lesion in the whole body survey. FLIPI are scored for all patients. Patients are classified into low, intermediate and high risk groups using score 0-1, 2, and 3 or more, respectively. Correlation between the SUVmaxs and FLIPI scores is using Pearson correlation coeffients method. Results The values of SUVmax arranged from 5.8 to 28.8, averged 13.4. In patients with score 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4, the mean SUVmax is 11.2, 9.6, 8.0, 19.8, and 24.4, respectively. When correlate the SUVmax and score of FLIPI, the P value is 0.6. When correlate the SUVmax with the risk groups, the P value is 0.01. Conclusions Our study showed significant correlation between SUVmax of PET and the FLIPI score in patients with low grade FL. PET is probably valuable for prediction of outcome in these patients.
