ANKAFERD® KANAMA DURDURUCUNUN PLASTİK CERRAHİ PRATİĞİNDE KULLANIM ALANLARI: OLGU SUNUMLAR

2010
Ankaferd is a stable, sterile and completely vegetal product which has a rapid haemostatic effect independent of the classic coagulation cascade system. In this study, with the help of the cases, possible application areas of the product in plastic surgery practice are discussed. Ten septorhinoplasty patients (19-40-year-old) were applied Merocel nasal pack which were inflated with Ankaferd. Although tampon form is available, it seems less suitable for nasal packing. Tampon form is applied to the palatal side-cuts of three cleft-palate patients (9- 12 months) for five minutes and removed at the end of the surgery. Ankaferd soaked sponges also applied to five split thickness graft donor sites for five minutes before semi-permeable closure. Because the objective standardization of the patients and the determining the amount of postoperative bleeding in these three groups of patients is unfeasible, the personal observations were included. No complications were detected in three groups of patients. All the nasal packs were removed easily in the postoperative third day. No postoperative bleeding was observed in cleft palate patients. Deperiosted side-cuts were closed about fifteenth day after surgery. Graft donor sites bled relatively less than classical semi-occlusive closure. Application of Ankaferd to all the patients who don’t have any bleeding disorder is not logical. However in case of bleeding tendency, such underlying reasons as hemophilic, anticoagulant/ antiaggregant using patients and even in the aged, pregnant or cancer patients with normal bleeding parameters, the product should be kept in mind for an effective and reliable control of bleeding.
