PERSON-CENTERED WORK ENVIRONMENTS IN HEALTH CARE: PRELIMINARY TEST OF A THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK.

The article discusses the impact of a hospital's work environment on the ability of medical professionals to care for patients. The question of whether a person-centered work environment would produce more positive outcomes was investigated. The results of a study conducted by the authors are presented. It was found that relationships between work climates and the attitudes of care providers correlated in predictable ways. An increase in employee commitment to organizations promoting patient-centered care was one of the correlations discerned.
