Technical Aspects of Pediatric Cardiac CT

“Technical appropriateness” is a key necessity for performing a Cardiac CT (CCT) in pediatric patients. Appropriate patient selection, ruling out contraindication, using appropriate scan and contrast parameters with judicious use of sedation are keys to the successful performance of Cardiac CT in the pediatric patient. The endpoint of Cardiac CT imaging should be diagnostically valuable images and not smooth beautiful looking data sets. The purpose of this chapter is to understand the technical requirements involved in the good acquisition of CCT data at minimal radiation dose.
