Estudio comparativo de perfiles de disolución de tabletas de albendazol del mercado nacional Comparative study on the dissolution profiles of commercial albendazole tablets

The dissolution behavior of six commercially available albendazole products from the Mexican market were compared with the innovator product (Zentel  ) using the Pharmacopeial method. Products were evaluated using apparatus 2 at 50 rpm and HCl 0.1N as dissolution media. Samples were taken at 10, 20, 30, 45, 60 and 90 minutes respectively. Dissolution profiles showed that the generic products varied widely in their rate and extent. When dissolution profiles were compared by using f 2 test we found that only two of the products were similar to the innovator. Our results showed that the pharmacopeial method is simple and could be suitable to evaluate the release characteristics of the generic albendazole products.
