Chromenes: Significance and Strategies for synthesis

2018
Chromene or Benzopyran is an important class of organic compounds which have attracted much attention due to their pharmacological importance, such as use in thermoplastic resins, anticorrosive and antifertility treatment, estrogenic agents and in angina pectoris. The 2H-1-benzopyrans are considered to be antidepressant, antianexial, analgesic, antioxidant, hupoglycemic, antihypertensive, and antitumor agents. The work has been a continuation of our work from the series of eleven books as Pyrimidines, Quinazolines, Pyrimidines fused with heterocyclic rings, Novel Pyrazoles part I, Novel Pyrazoles part II and Triazolo-Pyrimidines, Thiazolo-Pyrimidines, Triazolo-Quinazolines, Triazines, Thiadiazines and Oxadiazines. The present book entitled “Chromenes: Significance and Strategies for synthesis” has a brief survey of the literature taken for Chromenes, Introduction to Nitriles followed by Synthetic applications of ethyl cyanoacetate and Ionic liquids as catalyst. Chapter 5 describes application of ethyl cyanoacetate for the synthesis of tetrahydro-4H-chromene-3-carboxylic acid ethyl ester derivatives.
