Gyro‐averaged simulation of ion cyclotron Bernstein modes destabilized by energetic protons

The growth of an unstable electrostatic ion Bernstein mode in a uniformly magnetized, homogeneous plasma is simulated by time averaging the equations of motion over a cyclotron period. (AIP)
