A producao brasileira de frango de corte tem apresentado crescimento, porem um desafio para manter a producao animal sao as variabilidades climaticas e possivelmente as mudancas climaticas. Este trabalho objetivou avaliar o potencial de implantacao de galpoes equipados com sistema de arrefecimento adiabatico evaporativo para frangos de corte no estado de Pernambuco, visando identificar quais regioes sao mais aptas para producao levando em consideracao dados ambientais.  Para a simulacao do indice entalpia de conforto (IEC), foram utilizados dados diarios de temperatura do bulbo seco, umidade relativa do ar e pressao barometrica das estacoes meteorologicas automaticas de 26 municipios distribuidos ao longo das regioes do Litoral/Zona da Mata, Agreste e Sertao de Pernambuco referente ao periodo de janeiro de 1999 a dezembro de 2008.  A simulacao utilizando o indice entalpia foi eficiente para se predizer quais regioes pernambucanas seriam adequadas para a implantacao de galpoes. A analise dos dados indicou que os municipios localizados no Sertao e Agreste se mostraram mais aptos para a producao de frangos de corte. No Litoral e na Zona da Mata a maior frequencia de dias na faixa letal foi detectada, quando grandes perdas e possibilidade de obito sao evidenciadas. Nas localidades proximas ao oceano, o sistema de resfriamento nao seria capaz de manter os animais numa faixa de conforto adequada de IEC, devido a combinacao de elevada amplitude termica e umidade relativa do ar. This work aimed to evaluate the potential of implantation of sheds equipped with evaporative adiabatic cooling system for broiler chickens in the state of Pernambuco, in order to identify which regions are more suitable for production taking into account environmental data. For the simulation of the enthalpy comfort index (IEC), daily data of dry bulb temperature, relative humidity and barometric pressure of the automatic meteorological stations of 26 municipalities distributed along the Litoral/Zona da Mata, Agreste and Sertao de Pernambuco were used for the period from January 1999 to December 2008. The simulation using the enthalpy index was efficient to predict which regions of Pernambuco would be suitable for the implantation of sheds. The analysis of the data indicate that municipalities located in Sertao and Agreste, were more apt to the production of broilers. In Litoral/Zona da Mata the highest frequency of days in the lethal range was detected, when great losses and possibility of death are evidenced. In localities near the ocean the cooling system would not be able to keep animals in an adequate IEC comfort range, due to the combination of high temperature and relative humidity. For such locations, it is recommended to use other forms of heat attenuation, or to alter the density of birds. Keywords: Thermal comfort, poultry, climate change, air-conditioned sheds.
