Adaptive distributed infrared remote sensing instrument concept for microsatellites

A novel multispectral remote sensing instrument for microsatellites is described. By using 10 2 - 10 3 'chipxels,' a combination of high angular resolution, large coverage region, multispectral operation, and redundancy can be achieved. Each 'chipxel' has a detector array, optics, electronics, and an intelligent bus interface.
