Providing a Better Mathematics Education.

1970
Each issue of the TYCMJ will contain an editorial written by someone within the mathematics community who has something profound to say about two-year college mathematics. The author may come from any of several sources, but in every case he will be a person identified by the editorial board as one who has a deep interest in the two-year college and who has a worthwhile—perhaps controversial—message for our readership. We feel it is particularly significant that this first issue is graced by an editorial from Professor Gail Young, President of the MAA and Professor of Mathematics at Tulane University. We say this not so much because of the importance of his office, nor for his long-time support for the Journal, but primarily because of his long association with so many people concerned with two-year college mathematics and his enormous effort directed to those concerns.
