A Study of Understanding among Metropolitan Students about Deep Web

2019
ABSTRACT Beyond the content of Internet that can be accessed easily lies another layer – much larger layer– of material that cannot be accessed through a traditional online search. As experts have said, “searching the Internet today can be compared to throwing a net across the surface of the ocean”. While a great many things may be caught in the net, there is still a wealth of information that is deep, and therefore, missed. This deep region of the Internet, or the Deep Web, is characterized by the unknown – unknown size, space, content, and users. The furthest ends of the Deep Web, known as the Dark Web, contain content that has been intentionally concealed. The main objective of this paper is to explore the Deep Web, its content, and challenges and risk associated with it. Keywords: anonymity, Deep Web, Dark Web, illegal activities, surface web Cite this Article: Abhishek Shrivastav, Alok L. Singh.
