Methods for Studying the Genetics of Populations of Heliothis

1991
This chapter outlines the different methods for studying population genetics of Heliothis. It is assumed that the reader is an entomologist with a background in ecology and a limited exposure to the concepts and techniques of population genetics. The first part of the chapter discusses some of the concepts that are necessary to master and some of the unresolved issues that must be understood before the theory can be applied to real populations. The second part considers the kinds of questions that population genetics studies can address. Finally some of the methods and their pitfalls are then described.
