A two-tiered approach to wideband unijunction phased array simulation

1997
The conflicting goals of fidelity and execution speed in the generation of simulated data from a large multi-purpose wideband phased array radar are addressed. High fidelity simulation data is necessary for the development and analysis of novel algorithms and techniques. However, to perform statistical analysis, fast execution speed is required to generate data for Monte Carlo runs. The proposed solution is to develop a unified simulation approach based on two software tools: a rapid-prototyping simulation that trades accuracy for improved run times, and a high-fidelity simulation that has more accuracy at the expense of slower run times. Overviews of the organization of both tools are presented to illustrate the two philosophies, along with example results from one of the simulations.
