Elastic aftereffect exhibited by compacts from knitted metallic gauzes
1985
Compacts composed of knitted metallic gauzes, unlike other types of porous materials, exhibit an elastic aftereffect, which rapidly grows with increasing porosity. Sintering a pack of knitted gauzes before its densification suppresses the spring effect, substantially reduces the extent of the elastic aftereffect, and changes the character of its variation with porosity. Prior sintering of packs of knitted gauzes may be employed as a processing treatment enabling compacts of any geometric dimensions and shape to be obtained after densification.
