Embodiments of the present invention provide a signal synchronization method and device, the method comprising: performing coprime sampling on a first synchronization sequence stored locally to obtain a first sampled sequence; determining, according to a second synchronization sequence included in a synchronization signal transmitted by a base station, a plurality of short sequences; performing coprime sampling respectively on the plurality of short sequences to obtain a plurality of second sampled sequences; and if a peak value in a first set of correlation values obtained from cross-correlation computation between the first sampled sequence and the plurality of second sampled sequences is greater than a first predetermined threshold, using a position of the second synchronization sequence corresponding to the peak value in the first set of correlation values as an initial position to perform synchronization with the base station. In embodiments of the present invention, cross-correlation computation is performed on sequences obtained from performing coprime sampling respectively on a local synchronization sequence and a received synchronization sequence, to determine an initial position to perform synchronization with a base station, thereby reducing computational complexity.
