Artifacts in gated SPECT/CT myocardial perfusion
2007
1002 Learning Objectives: 1. Highlight the importance of artifact identification in gated myocardial perfusion studies. 2. How to identify artifactual images and values in myocardial perfusion gated SPECT/CT. 3. Describe the different methods to prevent and correct for attenuation correction artifacts. 4. This educational review will help to provide a higher qualitative and quantitative interpretation of gated myocardial perfusion studies. Abstract Body: Gated SPECT/CT myocardial perfusion is often associated with attenuation and non-attenuation related artifacts. If un-identified, these artifacts may lead to false positive, false negative interpretations and inaccurate quantitative data. It is extremely important for the nuclear cardiology reader to become familiar with them so that they can be easily recognized, and if possible, corrected and prevented.
