A novel EBG structured ground plane for microstrip antennas

A simple electromagnetic band gap (EBG) structure consisting of cross-shapes etched in the ground plane of microstrip transmission line is presented. Microstrip antenna characteristics on employing this EBG structure as ground plane are also studied.
