Sectional anatomy of the neck.
2004
Abstract: This is the first in a series of articles structured to provideanatomicallyaccuratefunctionalschematicsofthemotorandsensoryinnervation of the face, neck, and trunk. This article provides radio-graphically oriented cross sections through the neck to assist in iden-tifying clinically significant structures on diagnostic images and forinjection procedures. Future articles will present the same informa-tion for the face, chest, and abdominal regions, respectively. Procedures involvemuscles, nerves, or vessels. Those involving the muscles in-cludediagnosticelectromyography,triggerpointinjectionsformyofascial pain, chemical denervation (botulinum toxin)blocks for spasticity, cervical pain, torsion dystonias, spas-modic dysphonia, and cricopharyngeal dysphagia.
