Oral treatment of iron deficiency

Iron is essential for life, and from birth onwards it is absorbed from the digestive tract. In iron-deficiency states, the most natural form of administration — i.e. by the oral route — is generally employed, since treatment consists essentially in the natural substitution of a vital component of nutrition.
