A broadband MZI-based thermal-optic mode insensitive switch in Silicon-on-Insulator

A broadband MZI-based mode insensitive switch is experimentally demonstrated. Switching the first two quasi-transverse electric (TE) modes with 39.6 mW power consumption is observed. The switch shows reliable performance within 60 nm bandwidth. The payload transmission shows open eye diagrams for all scenarios.
