γ-Lactones from Trichilia claussenii

Abstract Four new γ-lactones: (2 R ,3 S , 4 S )-3-hydroxy-4-methyl-2-(13′-phenyl-1′- n -tridecyl)-butanolide, (2 R ,3 S ,4 S )-3-hydroxy-4- methyl-2-(11′-phenyl-1′- n -undecyl)-butanolide, (2 R ,3 S ,4 S )-3-hydroxy-4-methyl-2-(1′- n -hexadec-7′( Z )-enyl)-butanolide and (2 R ,3 S ,4 S )-3-hydroxy-4-methyl-2-(1′- n -tetradecyl)-butanolide were isolated from T. claussenii . The absolute configuration of the isolated compounds was determined. The methanol extract of fruits of Trichilia claussenii yielded the new γ-lactones, (2 R ,3 S , 4 S )-3-hydroxy-4-methyl-2-(13′-phenyl-1′- n -tridecyl)-butanolide, (2 R ,3 S ,4 S )-3-hydroxy-4-methyl-2-(11′-phenyl-1′- n -undecyl)-butanolide, (2 R ,3 S , 4 S )-3-hydroxy-4-methyl-2-(1′- n -hexadec-7′( Z )-enyl)butanolide and (2 R ,3 S , 4 S )-3-hydroxy-4-methyl-2-(1′- n -tetradecyl)-butanolide. The structures of the isolated compounds were determined on the basis of spectral analysis.
